I am a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series. I played almost all the games, read comics based on it, and even watched that creepy movie with Fassbender. And I was waiting for E3 in 2018 to see the trailer for the new part, but when it was shown, it became clear that ENT was KILLED. Please note that in the last part there was a bias towards RPGs, but the lore, at least partially, was preserved.
In the case of Odyssey, the inconsistencies with the lore were glaring. At a minimum, the choice of character gender and branching dialogues. From not very long games, the series turned into a 150h+ masturbation game. They replaced science fiction with magic (although later they said that this fits into science fiction). By “magic” I mean all sorts of monsters, which were later explained by the fact that ISU CHANGED PEOPLE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF PARTICLES OF EDEN (!!!). The hidden blade was replaced with a magical spear. Even, Lord, they didn’t bring normal parkour. And all because the script was written by people who do not know the Assassin’s lore at all. Most likely, this happened due to the fact that the Syndicate failed in terms of sales and Ubisoft management decided that people were tired of such games and remade the series into a fashionable and youthful SJV fake. I hope Ubisoft (and others) will someday understand that people don’t need such games. SJV fakes will only please the press and a couple of femmes. In terms of lore, there is hope for a new part, since the writer is the writer of Revelations and Blag Flag.
