Games Assassin's Creed All reviews Review from Balistr

When I played Assassin's Creed 5 years ago, I admired every minute of Ubisoft's work. It was a truly innovative game. Before Ubisoft, no one had made a character that could move around the city so gracefully (Mirror's Edge came a little later). If earlier a large building seemed like an impregnable wall, then here the main character Altair found the necessary recesses and, clinging to them, realistically rose to the height he needed. The game had an indescribable romance - you were part of an ancient order of skilled assassins, who were valued for their ability to commit a stealthy murder and blend in with the crowd. The plot was monotonous (kill nine traitors, and then it’s not far from the end), although I really liked the final act. Romance and reliance on real historical events brightened up the situation with the narratives. I will never forget under what circumstances I met Richard the Lionheart.

The first part of Assassin's Creed had a lot of shortcomings (the mechanics hardly progressed, I already noted the cyclical plot, and to get the main missions you had to go through low-quality second ones), but for me personally, the advantages outweighed the disadvantages. Moreover, already in Assassin's Creed 2 there is no trace left of them.
