Activision has been releasing a game in the Call of Duty universe every year for two decades now. This is one of the reasons why this series began to slowly fade into oblivion in the eyes of fans, because the continuation of truly legendary projects is expected from three to eight, or even more years, but why, everyone already understands that next year Another unremarkable “Kolda” will be released, which will turn out to be a typical joke, for 6-7 hours, the campaign in it will most likely be uninteresting, and it’s not worth spending several thousand for the sake of multiplayer.
Everyone also thought and continues to think about this part. I’m no exception here, and that’s why I didn’t play through this creation at release, but recently the developers of this series returned to Steam, and I still decided to buy it and play through it.
I’d like to say right away about optimization: personally, my laptop is not that strong, and that’s probably why at times very unpleasant bugs occurred.
Well, the gameplay here is typical for the series, a lot of shooting, and look at the dialogue cutscenes, by the way, you can also take part in the dialogues themselves, because they decided to make the game variable, and with several endings.
Well, the plot here turned out to be not at all mediocre, but very interesting, and as I said earlier, with the possibility of choice.
From the title you can understand that it takes place during the Cold War. Our hero is a security officer who has lost his memory and now works for the CIA, but his past, even on a subconscious level, cannot let him go and at times the hero is overcome by hallucinations in which he sees the “Red Door” (interestingly, during development this project had a code name "Red Door"). Thus, by the end of the game, the hero remembers who he is, and he has a choice, to return to “his people” from the KGB, or to stay with the Americans and complete the task begun at the beginning of the game.
Yes, the story campaign was able to pleasantly surprise me, unlike many other games in the series, it is really interesting to follow, all these spy jokes, brilliant. This, of course, is still not the Modern Warfare trilogy, where feelings simply went off scale, but it was close.
In addition to the campaign itself, there is also a zombie mode, which also has some kind of story, cool gameplay implementation, albeit hardcore.
Well, in terms of multiplayer, everything is quite ordinary for the series, and I haven’t played it for a long time.
The game has very cool graphics, good sound and localization.
Conclusion:
Call of Duty: Black Ops [Cold War] is one of the really good games in the series. You enjoy the story and the gameplay itself; after the main story, you can hang out in multiplayer for a couple more evenings and invite your friends to do this.
True, the price of this brainchild is outrageous, and the requirements for hardware are the same.
