Until 2017, I didn’t play the Crisis series, although I’ve had a computer since 1999, but at one time I missed it and the computer was weak, and I didn’t really have the desire, but for some reason at one of the sales I bought a set of the first 2 games in the series.
Naturally, I started in order from the 1st part and, to put it mildly, I didn’t like it, I wrote a negative review, expressing a number of complaints, and what’s funny is that although the games came out a long time ago, it’s as if the developers listened to me.
I wrote that in the 1st part there are still some problems with optimization, and my computer is not top in 2018, but for 2007 it was very even and there were severe drawdowns, especially at the moment when you get out from under ice dome and the Cephs attack from the air begins. In the 2nd part, the frame rate is stable throughout the entire game, despite the fact that the graphics are clearly better.
Actually the graphics, they are magnificent in the 2nd part. In the 1st, the graphics were also good, but for its year, although fanboys wrote that even for 2017 it was a bomb and would impress many, in fact it was not. But the second one, despite being 7 years old, really doesn’t look pasty.
Thirdly, I wrote that in the 1st part, despite the great potential of the suit, it is not used very much, because the player is not forced to use it, at most by force. I was also indignant that the game could be a good stealth game, because there is camouflage, but there is no way to sneak up from behind and, like in some splinter sat down or disonord, abruptly eliminate the enemy. I didn’t understand why the game needed an open world at all, if it was so empty and uninteresting (and they say about many games that they have an empty open world, but in the 1st part it is actually completely empty, no side effects or collecting, nothing), that In any case, you will go from check point to check point, because there is nothing to explore here.
I then came to the conclusion that if it were a corridor shooter, with small puzzles or something like that, where the player would be forced to use different abilities of the suit in order to go further it would be many times more interesting.
And this is what we see in the second part. The suit is used to the maximum, it has become easier to use because you don’t need to specifically select strength to jump high, separate buttons for armor/camouflage have appeared, it has become possible to actually stealth, it has become possible to silently eliminate targets, and not like in the first part. The game is a small platform level, it doesn’t sound very good, but in my opinion it’s better than the empty world of discovery like in the original.
Someone else says that in the 2nd part they almost don’t allow you to ride the equipment, this is true, but I almost didn’t do it in the 1st part either because I didn’t understand why and I didn’t get any pleasure from it.
As a result, I still consider crises to be stupid buffoons that didn’t hit me personally, but the 2nd one is better, somewhere around 6.5/10
