Games Devil May Cry 4 All reviews Review from Andrey27

The game that introduced the slasher genre to me. Epic, brutal, exciting, but first things first.

Plot

The story develops in the city of Fortuna and its surroundings. The main character, Nero, is a member of the Order of the Sword who worships the demon Sparda. Sparda once stood up for humans and turned against his demon brothers, but that's another story. Nero rushes to the opera concert of his beloved Kyrie, but demons appear. The nice fellow brutally deals with the horde and continues to run on.

Once in the hall, the hero is forced to listen to the speech of His Holiness and is about to leave the place, when suddenly his hand, which is in a bandage, suddenly lights up and a white-haired guy in a red cloak spectacularly appears through the roof. In front of the entire audience, he kills His Holiness. Motive? Unclear. But is it really worth leaving everything as it was and running? No, Nero is not one of those.

Nero enters into an unequal battle, but at one moment his hand... turns into a powerful weapon. Having taken over the initiative, Nero had already killed the stranger, but suddenly he was resurrected and explains to Nero that he is clearly no longer human. As soon as Nero is distracted, the killer escapes.

Going out into the street, Nero sees a horde of those demons who are killing civilians and he decides to help in trouble.

Unfortunately, it’s better not worth saying further. Nero must understand what is happening, find that stranger in red (kill him) and what the Order of the Sword is up to. His further path leads him to the Order’s castle.

Gameplay

Woohoo! This is perhaps why you should love the game. This is a game in the slasher genre, which means crowds of enemies, a lot of weapons and their effective use. Hack and slash! The combos are incredible and beautiful and, in a sense, that's exactly the goal during a fight - to perform spectacular, continuous combos. The game has a score rating system that evaluates your playing style at the end of the level. The cooler your style, the more pumping points you will have to purchase new skills.

World

The game boasts vast, picturesque locations. From the city and the castle to the jungle. Their design and elaboration are crazy, but there is one “but” - they are linear. In addition, for the second half of the game you repeat your route along them, although not along exactly the same path. Well, if we’re talking about the world, then I’ll also talk about its inhabitants. Demons... They are everywhere. Moreover, they are quite diverse and you need to adapt to each type of demon. But the BOSSes you will meet in sufficient numbers will finally test your strength.

Graphics (PC version)

What year is the game? 2008?! But you can’t tell from the graphics. The graphics are very impressive and even today the game looks very decent.

Music

Music during battles always gives liveliness, dynamics, and in general it’s just more interesting to play. And there’s nothing to say, Shawn McPherson performed cool songs!

Summary

Devil May Cry 4 is the best game for me in this genre. The game captivates with its combat scenes, overall visual design and interesting script (although it fades into the background here).
