Stylish, daring, but in many ways simplified Devil May Cry.
No matter how much the fans howl, I don’t consider the reboot a failure. DMC is a dynamic, bright, sometimes creative slasher film that was one of the best in 2013. An interesting combat system, a world divided into 2 realities, a dark style... If you have never played slashers or are only slightly familiar with the genre, this game is an excellent reason to start getting acquainted with serious representatives of the genre.
Well, now, a few words about the restart of the series itself. I repeat, I don’t consider it a failure. Dante has now become “a redneck, but he doesn’t infuriate, the idea with two worlds is implemented in an interesting way, and the transitions into these worlds themselves are beautiful. I consider exactly three things bad:
1 - the monsters are not creative. Again, in comparison with the original. Manic monsters in themselves are not bad, but remember the entire bestiary that we had to fight in the 3rd part, and even in the much less creative 4th! Each mob was significantly different from the previous one
2 - *POSSIBLE SPOILER* story. about Dante's parents became a story about Romeo and Juliet. Now the demon fell in love not with an ordinary woman, but with a fucking angel. Why was it necessary to drag paradise into the story? One of the biggest mistakes, in my opinion,
3 is the simplified combat system. Now, no matter what weapon you choose, each of them will have attacks that are almost identical in meaning: a special technique in the air, throwing, from the air to the ground, to the area... also now everything is divided into angelic and demonic weapons, which seems to imply, “for some this is better, and for others this.” Everything would be fine if they weren’t forced to change them. In short, there is no feeling of an arsenal of unique weapons behind your back.
