Games Dying Light All reviews Review from Jackie

I got even more than I planned.

The open world system turned out to be based on the divine Far Cry 3, which makes fighting off “save houses”, rescuing the unfortunate on the road, capturing cargo and collecting non-collectible items extremely exciting. All these things are done as if “on the way in half a minute”, which without stopping the pace of the game is very enticing. Add to this some really cool parkour and you end up with gameplay that can be a great way to kill time.

There is nothing to say about the plot. Of course, it’s nice that the main character can speak, the staging of the scenes is really quite decent, and the characters don’t smell so much like cardboard... but there’s no specific story and follows the old hacky template, which is why you look at him with half an eye, for the sake of at least some kind of performance in the videos. The company itself is head and shoulders better than Island, at least because in most cases they don’t even expect you to fight enemies, allowing you to find ways to reduce battles to a minimum and do everything quickly. Because of this, there are almost no interesting moments, but also boring ones. Only if they don't lock you up with a bunch of zombies, forcing you to beat them cold...

Here it is, the rotten cherry on this cake: combat. I don’t know if all zombies are so tenacious on all difficulties, but beating them is suffering. What's the fun in making them so durable? At the initial stages it’s still okay because there is a good feeling of survival, but it only works until the moment when you learn to push the most infuriating fast zombies to the side and one-shot the fuck with your heel. On the one hand, the gameplay becomes much simpler (on hard, I fucked out the entire wave that I needed to run away from with my heel). On the other hand, the meaning of edged weapons is lost. Therefore, forget about hard mode.

3 out of 5

No joke, I really enjoyed wandering around the open world. The stupid combat artificially forces you to play like a survival game in the initial stages, but as soon as you start making Molotov cocktails, jumping on the heads of zombies and throwing them off the roofs, one-shotting them in the faces, the game changes pleasantly. If it became interesting to beat zombies, I would proudly give it a 4.
