Many people believe that Far Cry 3 was a breakthrough in the gaming industry, and, in fact, it was so: amazing atmosphere and graphics in the trailer, the plot is just awesome! But in reality...
Initially, when I first launched the game, I really liked it. And to the entire community. However, the community always relied on the “excellent” mission of burning cannabis, and with good music. But, I decided not to stick to this side, and went to explore the game in more detail, without even getting into the game code. And for good reason.
Firstly, this game is boring and monotonous. At first glance: wow, these ancient remains of cities, knives, tribes!.. In fact - monotonous missions - go and kill. Yes, there is also variety in the form of a couple of missions where our weapons are taken away or we are not allowed to shoot for some reason, but these are only a couple of missions. The boss battle is a separate story, I’ll tell you later.
Secondly, the game is full of bugs. Playing DLC with a couple of bunkers that Ubisoft themselves rolled out. I accidentally died in one of the missions. The game loaded the save, and... Half the map was gone. And I mean this in the literal sense - some textures disappeared along with their collision. You have to go through the entire mission again. What about the battle on the island of Vaasa? in the building from which we are getting out due to its fire, there are ordinary windows with glass that can be broken. By breaking these windows and jumping there, we will walk on fire sprites and an invisible floor. The Temple of Zither was basically made with crutches. Almost everywhere there are invisible walls that you can legally climb. By the way, they also work in the battle with such a huge Ancient monster. And in this way, we can calmly, after finishing him off, when his hands fall on the steps and the invisible walls are removed, we can calmly go beyond the map and look at our translucent monster. Or maybe we’ll remember the bug in version 1.04, when when you press Esc, the clip on the weapon was restored as if nothing had happened? This, of course, does not interfere, but damn it, is this what you expected from the game of the year?
Gameplay is like that. Stealth may not be bad, but for it to become really good, you need to level up a bunch of skills, which are unlocked towards the end of the game, when you already want to maul everyone and everything, since a lot of different weapons are unlocked for testing. Mercenary suit? Ha, it seems like it should help us, but in reality it only protects us from 3-4 fools on the machine in the freeroom. Basically... Outposts are closed areas, there is only one mission with a suit, and it’s painfully boring, and the rest are a complete mess of enemies. Shooter? Lord, what are you saying? Of course, I understand that Jason is an incompetent person and is almost unfamiliar with weapons. But the GG at the beginning of the game, on the one hand, is a thick-headed idol who needs to learn a skill so that he can (finally!) hold the grenade lever with his fingers to be guaranteed to kill enemies behind cover, and on the other hand, he is a young fellow who can do everything, because he first he said that he didn’t hold a weapon at all, but in a couple of days he mastered all types of weapons, as well as how to remove the skin correctly...
I’m silent about the graphics, soap textures and grass with a cross are the height of arrogance, especially in 2013...
Except for the shooting, and the plot remained untouched, although I have already listed its main flaws.
My opinion is that the game is TOO overrated and unworthy of such ratings and awards. The developers openly cheated on the game, hoping that they would devour it. And they did it. If the main reviewers had not hyped the game and licked all its advantages, without even looking for any shortcomings, the game would have died before it was released. If the developers really tried, the game would be a success. But, not in this universe.
Good luck to everyone who has read this far, play only good games. Bye!
P.S. I haven’t tested the multiplayer, but until a mod comes out that allows you to go through the story with friends on an open map, there’s no point in talking about it, because the built-in multiplayer is just entertainment for those who are already bored with the single player.
