Everyone knows the problem of finding a decent, normal bird. People in the markets are not very honest, and there are always too many promises, as well as ambitions. But sometimes it really turns out to be possible to find a normal turkey, without discounts for the fact that two people made the game, one got drunk, the second didn’t draw it very well, etc.
I don’t want to break the game down into graphics like this, but the plot is like this. The game, which is very important to me personally, is complete. And I will try to tell about it in the same way.
There is probably no person who does not have relatives or friends who are seriously ill. Our hero was also faced with the fact that a very close person was knocked down by a dashing illness. And here the moral dilemma of accepting the situation, or going somewhere far away from all the problems, is perhaps the key one in the whole game.
Our hero decided to take some kind of mental break in life and go to the forest as a caretaker for a specific territory. The so-called Firewatch, i.e. observer preventing various ignitions.
It will be difficult to explain all the charm of the game without spoilers in the plot.
As for me, the game has an incredibly beautiful, moderate pace of storytelling.
He is always, in fact, meditative. We communicate throughout the game with a woman, our curator. And the dialogues are written just perfectly. During dialogues, I more than once caught myself thinking that screenwriters in AAA projects are eating their bread in vain. For in Firewatch, it is the dialogues that provide the lion's share of the atmosphere, and most importantly, make you believe in the heroes. That they are real.
A kind of symbiosis, from a meditative environment, good music and a truly solid narrative. They create a complete story, life-like, and with very correct conclusions. Perhaps one of the few examples where heroes are guided by meaning in their actions.
I want to say that the 10-point rating system is not at all suitable for this game. Kotaku has an interesting rating system. Yes or no.
So, Firewatch gets a YES rating from me. A very good example of a really good indie project.
