Just yesterday I played Halo for the first time and, despite the disadvantages, I liked it. For 2017, it’s very tolerable.
Essentially, this is an ordinary action first-person shooter, but with a good story and a lot of events. It all begins with the awakening of the only surviving super-soldier, Master Chief, and the attack of a hostile race, the Covenant, on a human spaceship. The enemy is stronger and more dangerous, so the Master Chief (that is, us) is entrusted with the mission to save the AI under the name Cortana, who has important data about humanity. Then there will be a crash in an unusual place, saving people, fighting with aliens and the technology of an ancient race.
The first half of the game didn't grab me. I just walked around the points, killed aliens along the way and tried to perform uninteresting actions. But already in the second half, a new threat emerged, and more exchanges between Chief and Cortana appeared. The locations have become a little more interesting, although the monotonous corridors remain. They introduced new opponents, added more alien vehicles, and even allowed them to fly a little. The pace of the story quickened and it wasn't so boring anymore. The only thing that infuriated me was the large number of enemies and the small arsenal.
Another disadvantage is the lack of subtitles; I had to install amateur voice acting of dubious quality.
Now there are a bunch of shooters on the market that have much better gameplay and because of this, Halo may not be as exciting for you, but I still recommend giving it a try. Suddenly, you will like the story of this series. I was interested and I already downloaded the second part :)
It’s a pity that only two parts were released on PC, and their remasters are only available on consoles.
