Heroes of Might and Magic 2: The Price of Loyalty — The plot of the campaign develops in the Empire, where the ruler of the northern lands, Viscount Kreger, suddenly rebels against the emperor and intends to overthrow him by collecting the powerful artifact Battle Armor of Anduran. The player plays the role of the main character — a friend of Kreger's youth, who is tasked with stopping the traitor and obtaining the artifact components of the Armor before him, while simultaneously suppressing the uprising. Following in Kreger's footsteps, the hero finds the first artifact component, and with its help he learns the location of the other two. Due to the difficulties of the journey, the hero has to let Kreger get to the next artifact before him, and go for the third component himself. The Emperor's Archmage learns that Kreger is hunting for artifacts at the behest of a secret cult of necromancers based within the Empire. The hero removes the spell from his old friend, and the Empire, thanks to the collected Battle Armor of Anduran, defeats the cult of necromancers, killing Ibn Fadlan. The Emperor softens Kroeger’s fate at the “price of loyalty”: he gives the protagonist his lands and title, placing the former viscount under his friend’s command.
