An excellent, realistic military first-person shooter. The easiest way to explain it is as "Red Orchestra in a modern setting" if, of course, you played RO.
If not, then Insurgency is an online shooter. At first glance, you might think of a comparison with CS (CS:GO). But no. The setting and small maps (although in Insurgency they are 2-3 times larger) are the only things that unite them.
Realism. That's the main thing. 1-2 bullets and you're dead. Or an enemy. Therefore, there is often a positional war with 2-3 people clearing rooms under the cover of a sniper and a machine gunner. And yes, there are classes here with their own weapons and attachments for the “guns”. Is it that upgrades are not unlocked through stupid experience, but are available all at once. The only restrictions are on the weight and cost of glasses to put on the weapon.
And yes, there is a special hip-firing mechanic, where the crosshair does not stand in the middle of the screen, but moves behind the mouse. It's hard to describe in words.
But personally, the main point for me is sound. Whether it’s a cross or a ricochet, everything sounds different and very good. Under a hail of machine guns, the screen becomes cloudy, a grenade falls nearby and you understand that, unlike CS, its damage radius is several times larger, which means you need to run. Music is heard from a nearby radio, “our people” are screaming in pain, bullets are whistling... Our point has been captured, we are moving the defense line.
For learning and having fun with friends, there is a cooperative mode against bots, which are becoming smarter and more aggressive with each patch. Maps, weapons and modes are also added with patches every 2 months. The developers don't want to abandon the game. And that's great. It's a pity that there are not many people yet.
