Jagged Alliance — The game's plot revolves around the A.I.M. organization, which provides mercenary services in hot spots around the world. Later (during JA2), two former A.I.M. leave the organization and create their own competing company — M.E.R.C. A.I.M. has about 50 mercenaries working on a permanent basis. Some of them (for example, Gus Tarballs, Shadow, Ivan Dolvich) can be found in both games, some left the organization for various reasons (death, resignation, retirement), who were replaced by new mercenaries. An integral part of JA and JA2 is the economic component, the cash flow coming from the extraction of raw materials to pay for the work of mercenaries and militias. In the additions, the emphasis is shifted to tactical battles, rather than the capture and control of strategically important objects.
