Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth is an isometric real-time strategy game set in the Lord of the Rings universe. The player will have to manage the army, the economy and the production of troops. Unlike other RTS, buildings can only be built on certain areas that already exist on the map. There are different areas: villages (one resource collection building: farms for good factions or slaughterhouses for evil factions), outposts or outposts (citadel, 3 building sites), camps (citadel, 6 building sites, small wall segments and up to 7 sites for defense structures.
Gondorian camps have 4 defense sites and a wall that almost completely surrounds the camp) and castles (citadel; 8 sites for buildings for the dark armies; Rohan receives 7 and 12 defense sites; Gondor gets 9 and a dozen defense areas; Gondor and Rohan have walls on which troops can be stationed).
The economy consists of building farms and forges; slaughterhouses, timber factories — sawmills, and smelters in certain areas. The game also has improvements and special abilities to increase the speed of obtaining resources
Each map in the campaign is named after a famous region of Middle-earth (Westfold, East Rohan, Blackwood, as well as the outlying regions of Rhun and Harad. The game faithfully follows the story in the correct order with special cases (Battle of the Hornburg, Isengard, Moria, and Minas Tirith ). numbers when not in battle. Wells at Good can also heal troops and regenerate units. The story of the campaign is told by actors Ian McKellen (Good; as Gandalf) and Christopher Lee (Evil; as Saruman).
