Not enough funds to throw the ring at Mount Doom
Among the bunch of Korean MMORPGs, among all the weird and free stuff, I came across LOTRO. Having subscribed for a month, I plunged into the world of Middle-earth.
I was pleasantly surprised by the good localization, excellent plot and interesting quests. But the best memories remain from RP servers, atmospheric dungeons and growing tobacco in the Shire. Having a subscription drove away schoolchildren and “trolls” and it was incredibly pleasant to explore this world.
But at one point it all ended, the Russian servers were closed, and the game switched to a Free-to-play model. There is no place left for the old community among the influx of thoughtless players. All new dungeons have increased in price, but having a subscription in the past did not give anything.
You can still return to Middle-earth, the game looks behind the times and, unfortunately, you will never feel the spirit of adventure again. But every adventure ends someday, right?
P.S. But I’ll still rate the game I remember
