In 2006, as distant as the Middle Ages, one of the most outstanding strategies of our time was released and, to be honest, one of my favorite games in this genre Medieval 2: Total War. Having bought a licensed copy of the game for crazy money back then, I had no idea what a treasure I had received.
The first thing I immediately noticed was the gorgeous voice acting - I want to bow at the feet of the one who invited the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Igor Yasulovich to do the voice acting in 1C-SoftClub: you have to try hard to find the voice so perfectly. The second thing is, of course, the graphics. At that time, not every shooter could boast of such detail - dense rows of squads of soldiers shining under the setting sun with excellent armor, thundering bombards, a swarm of deadly arrows fired by the defenders of a besieged citadel - everything looked so alive that it was simply impossible to look away. In addition, very good optimization could allow owners of not the most powerful “stuffing” to enjoy the game. Since I had no acquaintance with the Total War series, it took me quite a long time to delve into all the features of the game - the Advisor provided great help in this, which you can easily customize according to your skill level. But after all the nuances of the game were studied, the gameplay gave such a feeling of euphoria that you could really feel like the Ruler of the world: you wanted to play again and again, for each of the factions, of which, by the way, there are more than a dozen.
I warmly recommend Medieval 2: Total War to all fans of historical strategies.
