Games Metro 2033 Redux All reviews Review from Игорь Побережец

Usually, remasters are made for additional income and no effort is put into creating them. They will add new lighting, slightly raise the texture resolution, increase the contrast and that’s it. Then they release it with a new wrapper and price. There was even a case where the remaster looked worse than the original. But this did not happen with Metro.

Metro 2033 Redux is for me an example of a good remaster. The developers were able to improve the graphics almost to the level of Last Light. We changed the character models, redid the textures, lighting, added hiding places, and even expanded some of the locations. The game world has become more real and you want to study it more. Stealth has also been improved, but the enemies are still stupid. Shooting is now also more interesting, but I’m a fan of quiet passage without killing.

It’s worth noting that Redux worked better than the original for me.

Finally, I will say that this is still the same Metro that captivates with its mysterious and gloomy atmosphere, but now it looks more beautiful. From the first minutes, the player is immersed in this cruel and hopeless world, where humanity, hidden underground, is living out its last days. For complete immersion, I recommend reading the book Metro 2033, since some of the events did not make it into the game or were changed.
