My main series of fighting games, which by the 11th part had become completely ambiguous. On the one hand, the gameplay has moved from wild rush downs and 50% combinations without a meter like in MKH, to a more measured one, where you think about what to press and how to defend. On the other hand, they wildly simplified the most important fighting game mechanics - making the game more casual. You no longer need to spend 200 hours of your life training one combination for the sake of 50% hp. All you need now is to press at the right time: d2, a couple of hits and FB. My point is that now any player can deal a lot of damage in literally 5-6 hits. But the Combat League is a separate matter. KL is the place where the gameplay turns from measured to fierce trash. Heaps of pokes, grabs, zoning and just brutal shit where a guy who has never picked up a gamepad at all picks up Sub-Zero or Jade and defeats you in FT2 battles with just a couple of hits and one combo. Speaking of characters. It seems like NRS said that they spend $1 million on each character during development. And I readily believe them because the animation, costumes and just the appearance of the characters are excellent. True, there is one small “BUT” - and this “BUT” sits in the series at least with UMK3. Balance. Perhaps I have some kind of paranoia, but it seems to me that the game specifically adapts to your skill and selects opponents who are either weaker or +- of the same skill level. I spent 500+ hours in the game. There was a period when I couldn’t get out of it at all. Sometimes I dropped and didn’t play for months, but whatever one may say, MK11 is the most relevant, popular and controversial part of the series. But I love this series, this game, and I probably wouldn’t spend so much time of my life on something I don’t like. Although...
