Psychiatric hospital. Mysticism. Danger. Darkness. Oppressive atmosphere. Hopelessness. Death. Villains. Great story. Screamers.
Have you ordered?
Then get it! OUTLAST!!!!!
This is a challenge for all lovers of nervous breakdowns, screaming, hysterical beating of the keyboard and mouse and...running to the toilet .
Plot. This is something that is practically never found in games of this genre. Basically, the purpose of such games is simply to scare and add useless mystery entries that do not reveal the story at all. But Outlast changed the landscape of horror games.
We play as a journalist who goes to investigate strange rumors about the Mount Massive mental hospital. Journalist Miles Upshur (our sufferer) receives an e-mail informing him of illegal experiments. And according to the law of the genre, not caring about common sense and logic, we go there, armed only with a camera. At the entrance to the hospital there are 3 abandoned armored vehicles, in the hospital itself there are a lot of corpses and blood, and the still living patients are in no way disposed to communicate and are ready to hit you with a club. No, we are not going back, but continue to the depths of the hospital.
Just a standard cliche. But here it is important to endure and continue to play, because then the game gains such momentum that you want to play it despite your wet pants and shaking hands.
And, as usual, no spoilers regarding further developments.
Gameplay. Everything here is extremely simple and at the same time wonderful. We have a camera with night vision mode... that's it, that's enough for you. Using her and our head, we have to run and hide from patients and “special” characters. You will also have to distract them. The enemies themselves have more or less good AI. They can even look under the bed and suddenly change route. The main thing is not to let your guard down. The camera, by the way, also records Miles' thoughts in a notebook. This will help delve into the history of the hospital and its inhabitants. Very interesting, by the way.
We run, hide, look for the necessary items to enter the new part of the hospital. At the same time, it's scary as hell. Sometimes you have to sit in a locker for 10 minutes, gathering the courage to just get out and go where you need to go.
Graphics. Everything is very good here. Pleasant to the eye. This is not an indie project, after all. The lighting creates that very oppressive atmosphere, showing all the horrors of Mount Massive.
The sounds in the game are amazing. You can hear every rustle, every breath, every creak. This helps a lot to keep track of the enemy without even looking at him. The patients mutter and shout something. You are guaranteed complete immersion in a mental hospital.
As a result we got just an excellent “horror story”. The plot is excellent and keeps you in suspense until the very end. It's scary and interesting to play (I recommend playing at night). All fans of this genre simply need to play it. All that remains is to wait for the 2nd part of the game and again be horrified (in a good sense) by the skill of the developers.
