So, where to start... well, I’ll start from far away. The first Resident Evil was a good horror game in its time. Not now. Now it’s not scary at all (the versions on the Game Cube and HD Remastered too), but, nevertheless, if we consider it as a project that revived and changed the genre (as far as I understand, the only horror games before that were based on reviews on the NES and ATARI and Monster Mase 3D), there is no denying that this is a genre revolution. And also the fact that its sequel - Resident Evil 2 - is much better. Soooo... Okay, I don’t care about originality (RE2, by the way, the game is far from original, but very well made), I’ll do it like rockstargames

Pros:
1. The genre has changed again. Now, instead of ominous mansions, the new game in the series has planted a new parasite in the minds of gaming companies rushing to the hype train - the idea that it can be scary not only in confined spaces, but also in open ones, with a lack of ammunition and a bunch of enemies (although the car is closed there and a small cart), and when the only option left is to run. The fear of persecution is the same fear as the fear of closed spaces (claustrophobia).
2. The lack of ammunition affects the atmosphere (I already wrote about this, but oh well).
3. A city in which there are not hundreds of letters and notes in every trash can like in some conventional Prey of 2017 (i.e., like in Immersive Sims), but in whose tragedy you believe . Two different storylines for Leon and Claire, respectively. Good graphics for its time.

What I personally don’t I liked it, but this is not considered a disadvantage:
1. I am not very comfortable playing with a cinematic camera (tricks a la changing frames or smooth camera movement for the selected character).
2. The game now feels very tense, but no longer scary.
3. Tyrant only in the story company for Claire
4. Some pirated translations are bad, but some are funny))

Cons:
1. Inconvenient controls.
2. Damn timers.
3. Inconsistencies a la Claire takes the same key as Leon before her (this is more of a game convention, but oh well).
4. Normal dialogues in the series appeared only from parts four to five.
5. Due to PlayStation limitations, the sound is very bad.

Bottom line: for nostalgia , the game is ideal for introducing the genre and the Resident Evil series, but if you do not respect classics and old games in general, I advise you to familiarize yourself with the masterpiece remake. Well, if your computer is not so powerful for RE2 REmake, then wait for Daymare: 1998. All the best
