!SPOILERS ARE PRESENT!
After the success of Resident Evil 7, which Capcom released as a truly scary, especially at the beginning, horror game with first-person action elements, and not as was the case with the previous RE5 and RE6, which were not horror games AT ALL, the next number part Capcom decided to do in the same vein as 7, but adding action many times, introducing a small, but quite interesting and detailed open world to move through which, in the best traditions of a resident, you need to solve riddles at every corner, and all this should take place in winter, in a Romanian village, which takes us back to the Italian countryside from RE4.
From the very beginning, the game throws incredibly cool plot twists, when Chris Redfield (one of the key and first characters in the series) breaks into Ethan’s house (this, if anyone doesn’t know, is the main character) and kills the hell out of our ward’s wife, and then he takes our daughter and ourselves. The start is extremely impressive. Similar surprises will occur throughout the game, and in the end they will show us such wild stuff, and they will even reveal where Spencer (one of the leaders of the once powerful Umbrella Corporation), in whose mansion the events of the first part of Resident Evil took place, learned this magic from biological weapons. This is a real, stupid brain explosion.
But the plot in Residents is not of the first importance, it is much more interesting to talk about the gameplay:
It is made in the best traditions of RE4 and RE7, starting from shooting ordinary enemies, which are now not slobbering zombies, but powerful werewolves, vampires and other evil spirits from Bloodborne, ending with solving various puzzles, such as opening some door for further advancement in the plot, or getting an expensive treasure from some box and selling it to a merchant. Also, the developers approached boss fights very elegantly, for example:
To defeat Dimitrescu’s daughters, you need to fight them in the light, Dimitrescu herself during the battle turns into a giant dragon from Skyrim, you don’t need to fight with a strange doll at all, but just , having handed over your weapon, wander around a dark place and run from the jelly baby who wants to eat you, etc.
Now about the colorful characters of the game:
Let's start with the most recognizable and sexy - Alsina Dimitrescu. Perhaps the most elegant young lady in Romania, and her modest abode makes up a good half of the budget of this country. Her first meeting with our hero is a real thrill for male players. How wonderfully she licks the blood from Ethan’s hand, oh, and her laugh, her walk. (Sorry, Ethan, I know you're in pain, but physiology, as they say, takes over). Well, when we wander around her castle, this tall lady will begin to give you nightmares in the best traditions of the Tyrant from the second part.
Genensberg or Leps, who moved away from the glass on the table and began tinkering with various mechanisms:
An extremely charismatic man, who also has his own motives that differ from the intentions of the main antagonist of the game. Everything about him is good: his creations (mechanical bastards that you can’t kill), the design of his location, his glasses, hat, hammer, character. The developers were able to make the best male and female role of 2021 in one game!
I’ll also say a little about Chris:
He turned out to be a good guy, and as it turns out, at the beginning he killed not the main character’s wife, but the main enemy in this game, but it’s not clear why he knocked out the hero, but in general Chris is in each part was also the master of Daun(s), so this is normal for him.
And the hero himself turned out to be mold (in the literal sense of the word), and in the end he fell apart. 🤣🤣
And the merchant is the Duke (of all Romania, probably):
This is perhaps the most mysterious character in this game, and also high in calories (he’s so damn fat), but most likely, he simply serves as a reference to the same mysterious to the merchant from the 4th part. The motives of both are completely incomprehensible.
The graphics in the game are at the highest level, perfect Russian voice acting, created for the first time by the developers themselves, and not by the guys from GameVoice, excellent sound, although the optimization is a little let down, but these are probably problems with my old laptop.
Conclusion:
Resident Evil: Village was created based on the warm emotions of gamers about the fourth part, but at the same time, remaining an extremely independent project with its own innovative ideas, this is not the best part in the series, but definitely the best game in 2021 .
Thank you, Capcom ❤️
