Games Ryse: Son of Rome All reviews Review from Skalanut

Rome will fall, but not today

Recently, the themes of modernity and science fiction have been popular. A couple of years ago, the theme of the Second World War was popular, and the Middle Ages are only now gaining popularity, but the era of antiquity has been undeservedly forgotten. One of Ruse Son of Rome is just such a game.

Many people have heard about such an ancient state as the Roman Empire, and when we hear the word legion, we imagine highly disciplined and well-trained soldiers. Usually we were only given command of legions, in the strategies of the Total War series of games. But sometimes we really wanted to pick up gladius and scutum (shield) and fight face to face with bloodthirsty barbarians who know no fear. Well, if you haven’t played this game, then you have a great opportunity, but first things first.

The main character Marius Titus followed in the footsteps of his father and the years of training were not in vain, but misfortune comes to the house unexpectedly, Marius’s family is killed by barbarians, and there is another rebellion in Britain. Marius is one of the first to go with the legion to suppress the rebellion. What What happened next? Find out for yourself, and I’ll move on to listing the advantages.

Kraytek has always been known for its excellent graphics and it must be said that the developers did their best. The picture is beautiful and pleasing to the eye. It is also necessary to note the epicness and scale of the battles, every time you are so involved in the battle that it creates the feeling that you are now you observe this in reality. Take for example the landing of the legions in Britain. The fleet of triremes was sailing calmly, when suddenly a chain rises and some of the ships, having received holes, begin to sink, the rest are subject to fire from ballistas and catapults. Someone did not swim out and drowned. You were lucky enough to swim, but barbarians were waiting on the shore. Having solved the problem with the obstacle, you move on. Fireballs fly overhead, on the right another trireme sank, but finally the trireme rests on the shore and the legionnaires land on the shore. Someone dies from arrows, someone is killed by a barbarian. In short, the severity of the wars of antiquity in all its glory. There are a couple of interesting gameplay innovations. For example, the formation of a turtle, which adds to the atmosphere of the game.

The plot of the game is also at the proper level, they took historical events somewhere, added some myths and voila, it turned out to be a good story.

The game also has a beautiful finishing system that adds entertainment.

But like any game, Ruse Son of Rome was not without its flaws. Unfortunately, the game turned out to be linear, this is not to say that it is a big minus, but I would like more space. The short plot and the limited places where the events took place are also upsetting battles of the Roman Empire with other states.

Unfortunately, Ruse Son of Rome remained an underrated game, the game had the potential for the development of a sequel or prequel, but alas. The sad thing is that the Kraytek company suffered an unenviable fate. Will we see a sequel? I don’t know, time will tell.
