Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter

Croatian studio Croteam started with a football simulator for Amega, their first game Football Glory. The game earned high marks from critics. The second one didn't work out so well. But in 2001, the Croats released a game that could be called a direct successor to DOOM. By that time, everyone was already accustomed to shooters with a plot. And Serious Sam deliberately avoided excess fluff. It was a shooter whose whole essence was action and constant brutal combat. Monsters on the level were bombarded with entire divisions. The world, which had time to digest half-life, deus ex and two parts of thief, shuddered from such old-fashioned hardcore. I have never had so much fun shooting at monsters in any game. The plot of the game is quite simple, but the graphics, gameplay and soundtrack (I liked the music on the last level the most) pull it out. One of the best monster shooters of all time.

The original Serious Sam from 2001 is the very first first-person shooter I ever played.

Serious sam is a representative of spin-off shooters where the developers worked not so much on the plot as on the gameplay. The essence of the game is only to shoot a bunch of enemies with different guns, of which there are enough in the game, the original game looks very outdated, but the developers have released an HD remaster that still looks nice. The first Serious Sam looks worse than other parts (if you do not compare the remaster with the second part), but it is the first SS (TSE/TFE) that is the most dynamic and fun parts.
