Completed Shadowrun Returns

It's been a long time since the expression “the first pancake is lumpy” was not so appropriate. It feels like you're playing a huge mod, and not an independent game. It’s as if the developers specifically invested all the effort and finances from the kickstarter into creating their own engine, game fundamentals and gameplay, so that creative fans could create their own “blade runner” with orc elves without any problems. And you know, the gameplay is really interesting.

They managed to create a good basis for fans of creativity, but they approached creating their own plot with much less effort. The plot revolves around the search for the killer of an old friend and the subsequent skeletons in the closets. There are few interesting characters; the interlocutor sometimes talks too much and at length. Well, you can’t really see a huge amount of work and emotion in all this. They throw information at you, pushing the plot and that’s it. They even build relationships with certain characters rather sluggishly.

2 out of 5

Overall, the game is simply boring. Pleasant gameplay cannot hold everything on itself, and the plot sets up all the twists and turns from the very beginning that only dialogues could save it. But alas.
