Sorcery! This is a game created in the 80s by Steve Jackson, whom many in our country may know as the author of the board game "Munchkin". Here, Jackson prepared a book for the player, “Choose your own adventure,” where decisions are more important than ever, cliches of the fantasy-rpg genre are destroyed, and the player experiences real hardcore and a fascinating story. The authors of the virtual embodiment of the game from the inkle studio were able to transfer all this.
I first came across this game on iOS, and among a large number of simple mobile games, it turned out to be a real gem. I enthusiastically completed the first part, and then started the second. There were a lot of impressions!
I didn’t have a chance to try the third part. I hope the fourth one will be released soon, both on mobile platforms and on PC.
In total there will be four parts, just like the books published in the 80s. Probably the third and fourth will also be released in a bundle, i.e. together. Maybe they will even combine everything into one application, we'll see. You can start the game from the first part or from any other. It is quite unusual and original, often breaking the mold that modern players are accustomed to.
*Do you need to use magic? Learn a book of spells. No, seriously, teach!
*Do you want to fight well? Analyze the text during enemy attacks and draw conclusions. Each attacker has his own style, his own weaknesses and his own strengths. But get ready for real hardcore... and sometimes randomness.
*Do you want to be treated? Come on. Restore two or three points of health and immediately spend them on a simple enemy.
*Solve really complex and very elegant riddles, imbued with the spirit of fantasy.
Oh, and one more thing - even though the game was made virtual, it still remains a book. Yes. You have a lot of reading to do. But that's not a bad thing, right? And here comes the downside - the game does not support the Russian language. The English in it is not too difficult, but you still have to look at the dictionary from time to time.
But the text itself, the language in which the game is written, is wonderful, simply excellent.
What else can I say about this game? Before you start, you can choose the gender of your character. Don't worry, it will affect the plot.
You should also remember one important thing - trust with caution, danger lurks everywhere, a trick and an important plot detail that can be so easily missed.
Is it worth taking? Definitely yes! But knowledge of English is required.
Overall, I am delighted with the game and am ready to recommend it to all fans of the rpg genre, this kind of books, and simply those who want something truly new.
