The Warhammer 40,000 universe is my favorite, so the release of Space Hulk: Ascension was a real holiday for me. The first part completely transferred all the features of the original board game into digital format, and yes, for fans like me this is even good, but for most players it was an easy and even empty game about cool paratroopers.
But the second part fixed everything.
Why you can love this game and definitely buy it:
1. Atmosphere
If the last part sometimes made you tense with its atmosphere, then this part reached a new level.
Not the entire map is visible, only those small pieces of the hulk that are visible to your paratroopers. The music and sounds became scary and stressful. The locations have become darker and shabby compared to the previous part.
Yes, sometimes the game is more terrifying than most modern horror games.
2. Gameplay
The game has been updated with new features, for example, when shooting from a flamethrower, you can choose how the burning promite will pour on your enemies. These mechanics remove it from a board game, but bring it closer to computer games.
The map of the company has changed, now you have a sort of open world where you can choose which mission to complete (After completing it, you can go through the rest of the games)
Also, now you can upgrade your soldiers and change their weapons, this adds a new strategic element and a drop of Wach's realism.
Yes, the game has its downsides, but they pale in comparison to the upsides; in general, it’s time for a verdict.
(Yes, the rating may be a little subjective, after all, this is a wow, I can forgive some games based on it)
I give the game an 8, it’s not perfect, but there is room for improvement, but if you are a fan of the genre (or the previous game), then I think you will like it, and if you are a fan of wahi, then...
why do you even think about it, take your wallets and run to buy!
And for those not involved in all this, you can try it, because you will not only get acquainted with the genre, but also with the great Warhammer 40,000 universe.
