How is it possible, Star Wars and without a single review? We urgently correct this misunderstanding!
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…. Pandemic Studios released a wonderful game called Star Wars: Battlefront II (I didn’t deal with the first one, so I’ll start like this). The game immediately attracted Star Wars fans. It was a tactical shooter in which players spent an indecently long time. Here you have a single company for 17 missions, and conquest of the galaxy, and “battle,” and everyone’s favorite battles with other players. Fight on land maps, capture points and mow down enemies left and right. Don't you want to? Then go to the space maps, board a TIE Fighter or X-wing (or other ship) and go forth to wreak death and destruction in the vacuum of space. What did you say? And you don't want this? No problem. Especially for such insatiable warriors, we have created a package of tools for creating your own maps! Do you hear, Karl? OWN CARDS!!!!! Forward! To the Fight! There is no point in sitting idle!!!
Eeeeh, those were the days.
But not so long ago, and in a galaxy not so far away, DICE came and released Star Wars: Battlefront (2015). And they released it in the hope of returning the series to its former glory. They brought in a new graphonium on the Frostbite 3 engine, and added cards with skills....and....and...now the capillaries in the brain will burst...and..and that's it. Well, what did you want? What would they come up with something new? As the saying goes: “There is nothing better new than the well-forgotten old.” And we fully support this. With the exception of one “but” – you won’t see the plot company either. The graphics have been updated, there are cards with abilities - that's it, go to war. You'll figure out what's what on the spot.
Okay, that's enough. Now for the game. You won't see anything new except DLC. At least they add maps and heroes. It's interesting to play, but it doesn't last long. Everything becomes boring and (for me personally) after 60-70 hours of play it becomes boring. Fortunately, I bought the game with a friend and only this saved the game from being returned to the store. Playing together is much more interesting and you somehow don’t notice the lack of content.
There is a choice of costumes and weapons, although not many. There is no technology at all, I would say. You're wearing a walker, and get out of here. Oh yes, and 2 airplanes to boot. All this, if desired, could be doubled, but we have what we have.
Yes, even heroes such as Luke, Darth Vader, Han Solo and others were given only a couple of skills. I don’t even want to continue here, because I’ll explode with anger.
And with all the above, it’s interesting to play (as I said – in the first couple of minutes). I don't know how this happened. “WOW effect” probably. Or maybe out of respect for Star Wars: Battlefront II.
It's hard enough to write about a game that has nothing in it. Therefore, I am finishing writing this review. I wish DICE to reconsider its approach to developing the next game, and for you to win victories in star battles and other similar games!
