Here it is - a miracle. This is a story about how DLC can be better than the original game. Of course, there is no arguing about tastes, but the review is mine and I will describe exclusively my thoughts and impressions.
Yes, I'm a big Witcher fan. Both books by Sapkowski and games from CD Project RED. But I also adore all kinds of mysticism. And so, the addition contains my most favorite things.
I got a story so atmospheric and dark that the enjoyment of the game surpassed the original game.
The plot of tells the story of Olgerd von Everek, the leader of a gang of robbers, who somehow gained immortality. And soon after this meeting, Geralt again gets into an unpleasant situation, which serves as the starting point of the whole story.
Geralt will also meet an old acquaintance. But find out for yourself who it is. Of course, you won't see any spoilers. Play. The supplement will not disappoint you.
You can play the DLC right away. Either start with the “pre-installed” Geralt, regardless of the main game, or “pump up” to level 30 and boldly go to the DLC.
Graphics, gameplay, music, etc. remained untouched and you can read about this in the review of the main game. There is no point in repeating.
But there is also something new:
- The DLC itself will give you about 10-12 hours of gameplay. The most interesting gameplay in my humble opinion.
- Increased the size of some locations.
- A couple of new soundtracks. Excellent as always.
- New enemies, represented by...arachnomorphs. Alone they won't cause problems, but... they are constantly in a heap, you will have to work hard in order to emerge victorious.
- A rune merchant appeared. It will greatly improve the characteristics of your armor and weapons. But get ready, to insert strong runes you will need to improve your workshop, and this is oh so expensive. Fortunately, I was a fairly wealthy witcher (contrary to Geralt from the books) and there were no problems with this. The runes themselves can be either purchased from a merchant or found in the game world.
- Actually, new armor/weapons.
- Geralt has a couple of new abilities.
- And of course the gwent. But I bypassed this part of the game. And I don’t know what’s new in it. I don't like him. In the end, we play as a witcher, I am not a gambler.
As a result, we get an unusual and confusing story. With a lot of mysticism, incomprehensible characters, whose history we have to understand. But it won’t be possible without drinking and dancing, so not everything is so gloomy.
CD Project once again justified the title of the best company (for me). Bravo to them!!!
