In the role of a master thief and in the scenery of the Victorian era, you need to make your way to the goal undetected (although you can choose another way to pass), solve puzzles and use all available means to achieve this goal.
Judging by this description, everything should be interesting. That’s right: we get to know the spirit of a bygone time thanks to wonderfully recreated details, study the location for silent passage, and enjoy the setting of some tasks.
But not all tasks are so interesting and varied, and enthusiasm for the gameplay often suffers from bad little things like inconvenient navigation through the game world (along with loading screens between city blocks), city architecture that is not so successful for such a game, etc. The impressions of the plot are not completely clear: on the one hand, it is interesting to watch well-developed characters; on the other hand, the extras are not at all different from each other, and at the moment when one overthrows the other, one becomes sad from the monotony. Plus, the ubiquitous mysticism clearly does not play into the hands of the narrative (which is already weak) - something more earthy and realistic would be better suited here.
And yet, despite the shortcomings and problems, “The Thief” captivates and will certainly keep you glued to the screen at least until the denouement.
