Oh, damn, well, where to start. Hmm. Perhaps relatively good. Sitting in front of the table and looking into the empty chairs of the key developers who had left to do the LOA, the developers decided to make as many memorable situations as possible in the spirit of the level with the train from Ancha 2. Alas, their number does not leave the same vivid impressions, but damn, many really leave an imprint on memory as something cool. At the same time, I will again pay tribute to the developers and even more frequent changes of locations significantly saturate the game, leaving the impression of a truly huge adventure.
But then there are problems. The plot of Ancha 3 is quite good, but the work on the presentation has now become noticeably weaker. The authors have gone too far into dynamics, where action and changes of locations are at the forefront, rather than dialogues between characters. Because of this, these very dialogues suffer, the necessary plot pauses and accents are not made, while trying to reveal Drake as a character more than ever. I repeat, it’s not the script, but the accents. If you talk about the hero's past, talk about his obsession and determination, say that his wife left him, DEVELOP THIS TOPIC BITCH. It is these scenes that are done well, but then they cut off like a knife and there is an adventure line, which clearly should have been more personal for Drake. But in the end they made it “another adventure.” If in Ancha 1 and 2 there was a smooth line developing the relationship between two or more characters, there is none here. Only a rather rough development with Elena, whose normal development is prevented by the wild dynamics of changing locations.
Has the action gotten better? I would say no, but that's the problem. He got worse. I praised Anch 2 for its high-quality balance between action and other elements, not often giving us locations with waves of endless enemies, preferring constant forward movement. In general, they decided that this should be like in Ancha 1 and fucked up a whole lot of arenas with these same waves, but made some of them huge. But as I remember, Anch 2 gave me a nice weapon to improve the shooting experience. What did Anch 3 give? Throw grenades back and other hand-to-hand combat. Aaaand, they feel like a useful, but weak innovation. The hand-to-hand combat is animated very strangely and jaggedly, not giving the former sensations of a blow, but at the same time trying to seem spectacular. It’s hard for me to call a fight spectacular, where everyone moves suddenly like on a skating rink, and the opponents feel like dummies.
Has the picture gotten better? Technologically, definitely. Visually, probably not. The camera work is worse. Yes, the graphics have become better, no doubt about it. But you don’t need to look closely at it to see small “cheap things” with textures and new NPCs. In other words, the picture sometimes does not hide its weaknesses and the fact that it has lost its former visual style. Compared to it, ACHN 2 is not as technologically advanced, but it adheres to a style that hides such problems and makes the picture simply stunning. However, this is also the merit of the cinematography, which operates on the principle of cinema, which has almost been abandoned here. Unfortunately, the framing of the shot is sometimes so boring that at times it felt like someone was just practicing the game, rather than really trying to show the moment as best as possible.
3 out of 5
“More is not better” perfectly describes my attitude towards this part. In the pursuit of a large number of locations and unique situations, which necessarily flow into something enchanting, a lot of details are lost that previously occurred between them. They lost a lot of chemistry, dialogue, smooth pacing of the story, cinematically choreographed shots outside the cutscenes, balance of action, and most importantly, Drake’s personal arc.
P.s. The sabers are completely lazy here. Not only is the translation sometimes a poor "adaptation", but sometimes they even come up with the idea of inserting 5 words into one line with a long sentence, without having time to change it in time. And sometimes they are late. If anyone doesn't like fucking, get another one. In the videos, the sound is often mixed into screams, and even in the original voices have a noticeable delay. Even suddenly, bugs appeared when I had never encountered them in any part before. But the impression was spoiled only by our translation, although I think in localization it will be perceived more than normally.
