Everyone at least once in their life has tried to fit into their old pants, which they last wore about 6 years ago, Wasteland 3 is just from this story, they are small, tight and impossible to wear.
This game is about the “features” and shortcomings of Wasteland 2 in a new graphical component, but without changing the general concept of the game - they “pulled the logic” out of the game and left a rigid balance to the detriment of playability. There are no single heroes here and it is impossible to die (lose a hero), there are no critical injuries until the end of the game, here either the team wins or the save is loaded. There are no standards of morality and the gravity of decisions made, this game is about the carelessness of life and the possibility of variable spontaneity of choice.
Cons:
- This is not a tactical game, with pumped-up coordination (gives Action Points) and speed (speed of movement in battle), you can run through the entire battlefield in half an AP, which in the end any battle comes down to either constant running for minimal cover, taking turns with the enemy, or demolishing all the cover and shooting almost point-blank. Even the UFO series has more of a tactical component. It all comes down to going first and there is no order in which the characters move, the enemy team goes first, then the player, or vice versa.
- Upgrading skills and perks does not provide many advantages, since by the end of the game 1k crit on the player’s character ignoring armor is normal, although an attack aircraft (machine guns and SMGs) will have 300 lives at best.
-According to the game series, damage is generated from weapons, there are few weapons in the game and they are narrowly classified, which also causes despondency and the search for the right weapon, the inventory is endless and unlimited in weight, there are no customization and ordering filters.
-The financial component in the game is disgusting, there is no way to earn money except for upgrading the “BARTER” and selling “TRASH”. And here the main problem of the game begins, if you had money that you would miss, you would still have nowhere to spend it.
-Lack of loot as such - when killing an enemy with a machine gun, you expect to at least remove a pistol from his corpse, as a result the game gives you junk worth $1, you will only find weapons on corpses on some characters in the game.
-Disgusting optimization, very long loading times for locations, drop in FPS after 1-2 hours of play, can be treated by restarting the game client or rebooting the computer.
Pros:
-The sound of weapons is individual and pleasant, in some battles interesting musical excerpts of songs are played, but mostly the game takes place to the sounds of the environment without musical accompaniment.
Wasteland 3 was a disappointment, it has everything that was in Wasteland 2 (even the new factions resemble the old ones) and nothing new, the second half of the game is played with absolutely no pleasure. Even despite the moral decomposition of factions, sectarianism, cannibalism, sadism in the game, passing the game does not cause any moral hesitations, since the player is presented as an ideal messiah and the choice of actions is not able to radically affect the results of the game, all choices are rather an illusion of choice. Humor for the Russian Federation is very specific and limited, it seems that the game is for teenagers, but the game is rated 18+, so most likely the game was made by Americans for Americans.
