Games Watch Dogs All reviews Review from Paranoid

Mixed impressions of the game, on the one hand there is something to praise the game for. It has interesting mechanics that are not found in other games, a quite nice picture for 2014 (even despite the downgrade of graphics that everyone was whining about at release), again, it’s interesting to walk around virtual Chicago, it’s beautiful, big, well-designed, and not only Chicago, but in general all locations, because in addition to the city there is a rural area, an industrial zone, and so on. I like stealth games and a lot of things in the game are designed specifically for stealth, I was pleased to play such missions.

There are those same towers, so “favorite” by many, but they also have a plus, because here they represent hacking into a panel with information, and the panel itself is located on the roof, somewhere and it’s not so easy to get to it, you have to think, be more attentive, that is, this is a kind of puzzle, I was interested in doing this.

In general, it is clear that everyone worked on the game, except for the scriptwriters and people responsible for the physics of the car, they probably weren’t there at all.

The plot itself is not that bad, it’s probably ok for such sandbox games, but the plot missions themselves are sometimes devoid of any logic. For example, just walking along the streets, every passer-by points a finger at the character and says that he is “that same masked avenger,” BUT as the game progresses, it turns out that there is one person who knows Pierce’s identity and he is now in prison. His partner offers to kill him, but Pierce just wants to scare him (it seems humane, right?) and goes to prison, where he kills a dozen cops (you can’t help but kill them there, script)!!! Well, crazy logic!!! Moreover, when he went to prison, he hacked into the computer and changed his name, but after this mission, on the radio you can hear a message that the police decided to “arrest PIERCE,” that is, they know his last name, so why was there anyone -why intimidate if everyone already knows that he is a masked avenger and his last name is Pierce??? I don’t understand, especially when towards the end our enemy is kind of firing at us in front of the public, why if everyone already knew? In the last mission, I didn’t even understand how to get through without killing the cops, it didn’t seem to matter, but Pierce seemed to be a more or less positive hero, taking revenge on criminals, and not a thug.

There are also side effects in the game, but they turned out to be boring, they have no plot at all. Not long before VD, I played sleeping dogs, so there are also such simple side effects, but they are varied, and they have mechanics that are not found in the main game, there are relatively few of them, there are only about 4 types of such tasks and they are repeated probably 40 times, in short they stupidly stretch out the gameplay time. “Parkour”, so to speak, is also here, but they only allow climbing where the developer has allowed, it’s just that the character doesn’t know how to jump and jumping from roof to roof, for example, won’t work, in short, it’s a dubious decision.

And of course driving a car, I really haven’t seen it worse.

Therefore, a C, as a grade at university, is by no means Excellent, or even good, but quite satisfactory

6.5
