I've always been skeptical about the Wolfenstein series. After the “return to the castle” it seemed to me that the developers simply wanted to cash in on the famous name and mass hatred of fascism. I even looked at this game with great skepticism, until I learned one fact: the game was made by people from Starbreeze, perhaps the best (in my opinion) FPS creators. There was still a slight residue of excitement left when I bought the game. Who knows exactly who left Starbreeze, but later it turned out that almost all those people who made me love the shooter genre again left.
Having endured a rather leisurely and gray beginning, the true face of the game is gradually revealed to you. Lively characters, funny dialogues sometimes reminiscent of Giai Ritchie (maybe exaggerating...), an interesting plot, varied situations, meat in its best embodiment and even sane stealth! Damn it, only they can make such a cocktail. Sometimes it seems that if Starbreeze were a bar, I would specifically go to it once every six months in order to remind myself that it is not I who are losing taste, but the FPS “cocktails” around me who are losing their taste.
The game is not perfect. Personally, I would like to make some of the levels less meaty, and to stretch out the personal stories of the “gang” a little more in the plot, but for me this is the best shooter of recent years. I don’t and won’t regret my assessment.
