All sports games develop much slower than more popular projects. The situation with the simulator is aggravated by two more reasons. The first is the lack of competition, since only one game is released per year from a company that has a WWE license. Other federations are poorer, and therefore rarely produce a quality product. The second reason is the decline in interest in the sport itself, which means low sales. But recently, the wrestling simulator from WWE is starting to gain momentum. At the right time, the developers also changed. 2K knows a lot about sports simulations.
WWE 2K14 is not an innovative game, not a super breakthrough, not a next-gen, but a very high-quality product. The game is good in everything. The graphics of stars from the sky are not enough, but at a sufficient level. The appearance of the fighters is very well done. Spectators... Well, to hell with the spectators.
The combat system has been polished and each of its elements is ideally suited to the appropriate moment. At the same time, the difficulty for the single-player mode was significantly improved, due to the intelligence of opponents. The physics of falls was worked out well: I fell on the corner of a ladder - I was wincing in pain, I jumped out of the ring and hit the commentator's table - it fell apart. But, I would like better quality destruction and non-disappearing debris with objects.
There are a lot of modes and types of fights, all interesting, all the belts that have been in the history of the federation have been added. The walkthrough mode is simply awesome. To unlock the fighter, manager, arena and title, all conditions must be met, thereby restoring an almost entirely classic fight from one of WrestleManias. And the enemies are so good that sometimes you want to throw the gamepad right at the TV.
Another undoubted plus is the roster. Among the fighters there are all modern and a huge number of legends. The DLC released adds even more legends, so only fans of that era will buy them. One DLC adds three divas and two modern wrestlers. But Big E and Fandango are not required fighters for this game, and therefore all additions can be considered a pleasant opportunity to expand the roster of fighters, and not another attempt to make money on players, as was the case before.
A great game that will appeal to all wrestling fans... But other players will also appreciate it. Or maybe they will love this unusual sport.
