Continuation of the first part of XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which, according to the developers' plans (and not according to our heroic deeds), ended disastrously for Homo Sapiens.

Unfortunately, the colorful backstory didn’t fit here, so I’ll go straight to the pros/cons.

Pros:

1. History: interesting interpretation of the events of the first part.

2. New and old opponents: fighting is still interesting and incredibly difficult even at the second difficulty level.

3. New classes of fighters: I was especially pleased with the ranger! The rank of colonel is death itself in the guise of a man.

4. Customization of soldiers and weapons: I really liked this moment - finally the soldiers actually began to differ from each other!

5. Procedurally generated maps: this is what the first part was missing so much!… Read full

It would be very nice if every good game had a high-quality sequel. In this case, it is exactly so, which is incredibly pleasing.

We are given command some time after the victory in the first part. Well, how to say victory, it depends on how you look. But no interesting story is complete without such twists.

We are again at the forefront of the fight against the alien threat, again tactical battles with familiar mechanics await, again all sorts of mutons with snake people will go against the heroes of humanity.

However, now everything is not so, because we are not an army of liberation, which with a proud step makes the uninvited guests shudder, we are resistance. Therefore, the system and regular forces, coupled with new types of enemy weapons, are against us.

The best turn-based strategy game out there, but too long. Now, if there were not 40, but 10 missions, it would certainly be better and much less meticulous.

Whoever came up with this step-by-step style is simply a “genius”! Even when you are point-blank to the enemy, with an 88% chance of hitting the head, you manage to miss. As someone who rarely played strategy games very hardcore, I had to save after every step. Each mission took me on average 1.5-4 hours, which is a lot. But this is my problem, not the games. However, I really liked this project!

If you don’t play strategy, don’t even bother coming here, otherwise you’ll suffer like me!
