It appears that Disney bosses are set to reconsider their approach to the future of the Star Wars franchise. One of the measures could be the dismissal of Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy, writes insider and journalist Jeff Sneider.
According to him, the Lucasfilm CEO may leave the company in the second half of 2025, while her three-year contract expires around this October. Presumably, Disney is waiting for a convenient excuse that would allow her to leave without unnecessary noise.
Recall that Kathleen Kennedy has been heading Lucasfilm since 2012. During this period, several projects have been released, including the Star Wars sequel trilogy, the Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Andor series. The latest show to date was the disastrous Acolyte, whose second season was cancelled and all related merchandise was quickly removed from the Disney website. Incidentally, Kathleen Kennedy herself accused the Star Wars fandom of being toxic due to its «predominance of white men» before the series was released.
The lead actress in Acolyte also recently expressed her opinion on the series, explaining the show's failure by «hyper-conservative intolerance».
