Marvel is still keen to stage a grand gathering of superheroes in the spirit of Avengers: Endgame, but not all ideas are feasible even with big budgets. The team of Deadpool and Wolverine explained why Nicolas Cage's Ghost Rider never appeared in the film.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds confirmed that the studio had plans to bring the actor back. However, everything came down to Nicolas Cage's reluctance to play in the film:

But we did talk to Nic Cage. We tried to get him, but he was a no-go.... I would've loved him.
— Ryan Reynolds

Ghost Rider was supposed to appear in the film, judging by the early concepts. They even wrote a whole scene for the character, but in the end it had to be cut out of the plot. Ryan Reynolds himself even found some advantages in the fact that Marvel did not have to allocate an even larger budget to invite a famous actor — according to him, money only cuts creativity.

As for Nicolas Cage himself, the latter returned to superheroics as Noir Spider-Man. Recently, the first pictures of the suit that the actor will wear in the film leaked online.
