Due to wildfires in Southern California, the announcement of the Oscar nominees has been postponed to January 19. The voting period, involving nearly 10,000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has been extended by two days, now ending on January 14.

Originally, the nominee announcement was scheduled for January 17.

We want to offer our deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating fires across Southern California. So many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area, and we are thinking of you.
— Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

In response to the fires, some companies have also decided to delay the release of series and films, including Unstoppable, Wolf Man, Better Man, and The Pitt.

Additionally, the production of the second season of the series Fallout has been halted due to the fires in Southern California.

A state of emergency has been declared in California due to the extensive damage. It is reported that the fire has engulfed an area of over 1,180 hectares, forcing around 30,000 residents to evacuate to safe locations.
