There's been quite a bit of confusion surrounding Cillian Murphy's character in the upcoming film 28 Years Later. Many were hoping he would appear in the movie, as his character was the protagonist of the first installment (28 Days Later). However, producer Andrew Macdonald recently debunked this rumor in an interview with Empire.
He did mention, though, that Cillian Murphy's character might still appear in future films of the planned trilogy. He is currently serving as the executive producer of the film.
Interestingly, the trailer for 28 Years Later (at the 1:47 mark) featured a zombie that reminded fans of Jim (the main character of 28 Days Later). However, it turned out he was played by a completely different actor — Angus Neill.

The film is set to premiere on June 20, 2025. The second part, subtitled The Bone Temple, is expected to be released on January 16, 2026. The third installment will be released if the first proves to be a successful project.
