Sad news from Remedy. The Finnish studio has announced the cancellation of the cooperative shooter under the codename Kestrel. The game was announced in 2021 as a free-to-play PvE title.
Kestrel never reached full development stage. Last fall, Remedy changed the game's concept, turning it into a «premium» shooter, but the development did not progress beyond the concept stage.
The cancellation of Kestrel has allowed the freed-up resources to be directed towards the development of other games. Currently, Remedy is working on Control 2 and the remakes of Max Payne.
Earlier, Remedy reported that Alan Wake 2 has not yet recouped its costs, but has already recovered a significant portion of the expenses. The release of the mystical thriller took place on October 27.
