Assassin's Creed 3 rethought the mechanics of previous parts of the series, differed from them in terms of plot presentation and sported a new engine with eye-catching graphics.
When I tried to figure out what was left of the third part, I found not so many things: bales of hay, vantage points and camera angles. Everything else has been redone. The combat system was now conducted using slightly different buttons. The character developed high speed differently and generally moved differently from Altair and Ezio (they had exactly the same animation of movements). Even the collection of items has changed: there are chests that you need to be able to crack and flying pages from the almanac, written by Benjamin Franklin himself. If you gape, you’ll make the wrong direction of the jump, and you’ll no longer be able to get the treasured piece of text.
And how many innovations there were! An amazing frontier (forests, fields, rocks, lakes!!!) with a lot of living creatures that you can hunt, with trees through which you can effectively move. Beautiful naval battles, reminiscent of such a great game as "Corsairs". A wonderful winter, the sight of which made me want to remember the best moments from Mafia 2 (only here there were snowdrifts that slowed down the hero’s movement; it was also convenient to track the movements of hares using the prints). And a lot of other, less global innovations: for example, pets and group combos appeared, you could run through the apartment of one of the houses to take a shortcut, soldiers used guns for their intended purpose, the blade of a hidden blade was taken out and used as a dagger, first aid kits were abolished . And the main character Connor, who resembles Altair in character, had an amazing assassin suit. He could also be Scorpion from Mortal Kombat for a bit, pulling opponents in his direction with a rope dart!
I will also note that the game constantly surprises. It comes down to juggling genres. In one mission, a more or less familiar process - we hide and quietly cut down opponents, maintaining 100% synchronization. The next mission is to capture the fort from the sea! Next, we separate the dispute between two estate workers, participating in one of the most interesting QTEs. Next in the story you have to command the troops of Washington himself, to do this you just need to order them to fire a salvo in time! Assassin's Creed 3 is constantly changing, I felt like I was in the center of a tornado of interesting events.
At the moment this is the best game in the series. Everything about it is beautiful, and the ending, the zeal with which the main character goes towards his goal (rest assured, he will achieve it), raise the overall impression of the third part to some fantastically enormous degree. If Assassin's Creed 4 (I just started playing it, and therefore I won't say anything) does not surpass its predecessor, then this will be absolutely normal. It may take more than one or two years to surpass such developments.
