Recently, Ubisoft has come under a lot of criticism due to the so-called "pipeline". It seemed like the peak had already been reached - two games a year, but Ubi decided to release four this year! Although, that's not what this is about. Over the past year, all eyes have been on Unity, which offers many new features. In this regard, the game began to live up to its name (rogue - outcast). Does the game deserve the laurel of honor or has it, having grown up in the shadow of its older brother, never been able to take its place of honor in the series. Let's figure it out.
1. From the very beginning, the developers promised us a fundamentally new gameplay, offering the opportunity to play as a Templar. I expected completely new emotions from this, some kind of hunting excitement of chasing assassins, the main character, with a cynical smile, watching opponents who, without realizing it, are walking into a deadly trap. Instead, I got an extra headache in the form of shaved men and heart-rending screaming women jumping out of haystacks. At first it’s interesting to repel their attacks, but then it gets wildly boring and turns into a routine.
2. When I first entered the game, I thought that I had accidentally opened BF - the interface remained virtually unchanged. Having started the story campaign, I realized that the gameplay was also not far from its ancestor. With the exception of everything listed in the first paragraph, a strange improvisation on the theme "What would happen if Benjamin Franklin invented a grenade launcher during the Seven Years' War" and some cosmetic changes, there is nothing new!
3. It’s impossible to talk about the storyline without grinning; there’s an ancient artifact involved again, but this time it’s in the hands of the Brotherhood and the Templars are trying to steal it. The world consists of three zones, all of them are filled, but there is no sense or motivation to explore each island. I was pleased with the optimization on PC, but the price is simply inadequate, even taking into account last year’s fall in the ruble.
Bottom line: the game turned out to be simply uninteresting, the open world, which seems full, is actually empty. A meager number of innovations, a banal plot and failure to fulfill promises led the game to this rating.
