Call of Duty... Do you remember what these words mean? I remember, and I believe that not all parts of the franchise deserve such a title. It's the "call of duty," damn it! Silly wars of the future — get lost! Now, directly to the game.
Campaigns
The game tells the story of the terrifying events of World War II from different time periods and locations, presenting real historical moments. The game features 3 campaigns and 4 active characters.
Vasily Ivanovich Kozlov, a Red Army soldier, represents the Soviet campaign. Playing as this character, we participate in the battles for Stalingrad.
John Davis and David Welsh. Two characters from the British campaign. We will visit events such as the Battle of El Alamein, participate in a tank battle, and more.
Bill Taylor, the protagonist of the American campaign. Through his eyes, you will witness the bloodbath of the Normandy landing (D-Day), the Rhine operation, and the capture of Hill 400.
And you know... The game lacks the usual plot, well-developed characters that should evoke emotions, and perfectly written dialogues. The game doesn't captivate with these elements at all! This is war... There's no place for beautiful stories. The game draws you in with its atmosphere, the spirit of that terrible era, when hundreds of people died before your eyes, and you couldn't save them... When people found the courage to go into battle against the enemy, knowing no mercy! Thinking about this brings tears to your eyes with the thought "let this never happen again." Thanks to this game, I still remember that thanks to all those people, we have peace in the world.
And now, after all this lyricism, I will talk about the game. The game is very well-constructed and makes good use of the source material. This is observed in almost all aspects of the game. Before each chapter begins, we watch a sort of documentary film to better understand the essence of the upcoming events. The characters also keep diaries, which we see on the loading screen. During the game, we are simply given specific tasks to complete.
I especially want to highlight the Soviet campaign. Playing it, you feel pride for our country, and the game really inspires me. The extraordinary atmosphere of winter Stalingrad in 1942-1943. Many missions are simply awe-inspiring (especially "Demolition Works," "Pipeline," and "Comrade Sniper")! Thank you, Infinity Ward, for showing the USSR in the best light twice.
Gameplay
The gameplay is very similar to the first part, with one important detail — the character regenerates health like Wolverine! Maybe this is even for the better. Now you can be in the thick of battle all the time, instead of running around the map looking for a small medkit. And don't think it got easier because of this! On the hardest difficulty level, you get killed with 1-2 bullets, so you need to have special skills (using the environment, cover, available arsenal, etc.). You won't become a Terminator, and only kids play on easy level!
By the way, the arsenal. A very rich selection. Since the game features many countries (USSR, Germany, Britain, and America), the weapons of all these countries are used. Weapons of various classes: pistols, rifles, submachine guns, machine guns, and more. д.
Отмечу композиции, которые наиболее мне понравились: "To Victory!", "Railroad Station No. 1", "Not One Step Backward!".
