Games Code Vein All reviews Review from ZERO-Kurogami

The game is great. Stylistically, she is simply magnificent. Locations, surroundings, opponents. Looks very juicy. Also, of course, the plot. I won’t say that it’s some kind of mega original, but there were also moments when I could sit with my mouth open. The gameplay is not very different from the Sauce series, and also evokes Bloodborn. Only, unlike Bloodborn, everything here is much cooler. All these things with blood codes, bloody veils and abilities tied to blood... It seems to me that Bloodborn should have been like this, at least in part, because here it’s all done gorgeously. In my opinion, the variety of weapons let us down a little. There is a lot of it here, each has its own movesets and animations, but there are only 5 types (of course there are also subtypes, such as in heavy weapons there are hammers and all sorts of axes, and where there are swords, there are also katanas and rapiers, where there are guns, there are also shotguns, etc.), but nevertheless, only 5 types. By the way, there are only 4 types of bloody veils, but they all look very stylish and are all quite different from each other. You can even change the colors (which, by the way, cannot be done in the same Sauces). There is no shortage of armor. Everywhere is different and unique, colors change, abilities, chic. And there are only 5 types of weapons. The devil knows, maybe I’m being so picky, maybe what, but it feels like a little more could have been done. Of course, there are a lot of weapons and there is no shortage of them. You can choose something to suit every taste, but there’s a feeling that something wasn’t completed, I don’t know.

Music... Oh, music... VAMPS compositions are now forever on my playlist. And how does it feel in the game when cutscenes are played? Just... Hats off.

That's it, the multiplayer really let us down. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that compared to the same sauces it looks somehow chopped off. You can play with a maximum of two people (three of you with an NPC). There is no PvP (AND GLORY TO SOCKS). Well, you can’t call the game a multiplayer game. Cooperative, maybe... Yes, and so, with a stretch.

The localization upset me. I understand some Japanese, I know English quite well, and the game is not well localized. In fact, in many Japanese games I notice how different the subtitles are from what they say. In principle, if the localization does not confuse you from understanding what is happening, then it is difficult to say that it is terrible. But this is only if you look in general. If you pay attention to the little things, well, sometimes it’s not at all the same.

By the way, the game is very good technically. Everything flies on ultra (by the way, my computer is not super cool). This is definitely a plus.

Overall, the game is worth playing. It doesn't matter if you've played Dark Souls or not. Surely Sauce fans say that the game is simple. But that's not true. Perhaps, compared to DS, the game is not super hardcore, but players who do not often play hardcore games may sweat it out. A pleasant visual style, gorgeous music, epic plot and dynamic gameplay will definitely make you enjoy every minute of the game.
