Actually, not so long ago Darkest dungeon was finally released officially and I can say I’m just incredibly delighted with this game. this is a truly dark, interesting and complex RPG that has ever been released recently, and so let’s move on to the advantages of this game:
+ very cool dark hand-drawn graphics that you just can’t take your eyes off. the feeling that you are watching some kind of interactive comic and not playing a game. This is very cool.
+a huge variety of interesting heroes, there are the classic Warrior, Cleric, Mage (in this case, Occultist), and the thief, as well as all sorts of interesting ones like the Plague Doctor, the Leper's Grave Destroyer and others. From all these heroes we can make interesting parties of characters and with certain combinations we will receive all sorts of bonuses for the squad.
+ negative effects. in Darkest Dungeon there are probably the most interesting negative effects that I personally have ever seen, the heroes during their entire journey will be subject to the most interesting long-term negative effects, for example, rummaging through the corpse of an animal. You have syphilis, or your character was cut very often, he went a little crazy and he became a masochist, or he read some strange scroll and he went crazy, what’s most interesting is that the characters begin to behave very unpredictably because of this, and they act as they please.
+ Atmosphere, it’s not just designed in a gloomy gothic style, for the most part it smacks of Lovecraft’s work, which I think his fans will like (personally, I’m already crazy about the game).
+ Difficulty, the game is very complex in its own way, but it is moderately difficult and makes you really work with your brain, and provides us with a real challenge, which is so lacking in modern games these days, while going through the dungeon you are in constant tension because you often don’t know what awaits you, and the enemies themselves often turn out to be evil creatures, which sometimes simply if they don’t kill you, they exhaust your squad very much and force you to escape from the dungeon; situations will often arise in front of the player when you need to either retreat or risk everything, and then depending on your luck.
Of the minuses, I can name only two, these are:
- there are no characteristic differences between heroes of the same class, all the differences between heroes of the same class are only in color, although I would like there to be heroes of the same class also of different genders. This brought quite an interesting visual variety to the party, in my opinion.
- crooked random. in the game, the addition of heroes occurs randomly and every week several heroes come to us, and alas, they are often of the same class, and of one that is already in abundance, and situations arise when the heroes you need are on vacation, and you have to take them into the dungeon those that have arrived and with a greater degree of probability they will go to slaughter.
In conclusion, I want to say that although this is not a deep plot, it is a very pleasant and interesting game in terms of gameplay and mechanics; it is immediately clear that the creators put their soul into it and did a very difficult job of balancing the game. and we got a truly high-quality and interesting game.
