So, I completed twenty-two of the 24 story missions and deleted the game. Why? I'll tell you now. I'll start with a general story, then the pros and cons, and finally a short summary story.
Dead Island 2 is a game with one of the most realistic physics of damage to the enemy’s body, which is zombies of different types in this game. Absolutely everything is visible - muscles, organs, bones, tissues and other realistic damage. For example, another realistic detail: if you deliver several blows to the face, or rather the jaw to the lower teeth, the jaw will not just fly off, but will hang down and there can be dozens, if not hundreds, of such realistic moments. About the bones, if you hit the kneecaps too hard, then the zombie will have an open fracture. Also, the types of weapons differ not only in damage and the places in which critical damage will be received from the enemy, but also in defects. The discussion about damage can go on for a long time, but I will move on to other parts of the game, let's start with the pros
Pros:
1) Combat and damage - already told.
2) Graphics - the graphics here are good, I think no one has any objections, beautiful, summer atmosphere, especially at the beach location.
3) Variety of enemies - there are quite a lot of zombies, starting from simple connecting rods that die almost from one blow, ending with all sorts of bosses, for example, a clown or a zombie, which consists of two people.
4) Optimization in terms of frame rate. There are no questions here, everything is great.
The ardent pros end here, now we can move on to the cons.
Cons:
1) The appearance of zombies from the air - during the game you will see more than once how literally a couple of meters from you or right next to you zombies appear from the air, yes, they crawl out here from ventilation or hatches, but it won’t seem like it to you, they really appear out of thin air
2) Frequent flights - I don’t know, maybe it’s I was not so lucky, but at the beginning of the game I had frequent crashes, and the hardware is not weak (RTX 4060 and I5 12th generation)
3) Plot - yes, it is clear that the emphasis was not on the plot, but he's just banal. I won’t say spoilers, but he only becomes normal at the end of the game, and before that the whole plot consists of us running around and completing tasks for different people, so that they allow us to pass, so that we complete the tasks of other people, etc.
4) Delaying the game - the game is small, but at one point, this deliberate procrastination just gets boring and infuriating, for example, you go to a location, but the gate is closed, in the end, you need to take the keys from the room, but the room is also closed and you have to go down into the tunnel, and there is gas, you have to poke and turn all sorts of valves and buttons in order to redistribute the pressure on the pipes, and in this way remove gas, you did it, but then it turns out that the door is locked with an electric lock and that’s not the task, you need to go further and further again and again, open door after door, just to open the initial door, or rather get the key to the room, although , that door can be easily opened, given the fact that we have various firearms, homemade bombs, etc.
5) Partly the gameplay is boring and monotonous.
This is where the ardent cons end, and here is the final story:
Also, I would like to talk about the map, it seems to be an open world, but it seems not, you need to move around locations, but There are also fast travel points at survivor bases and some other places, but it feels like the world is not open. But why didn't I complete the remaining two missions? — it’s simple, somehow I didn’t level up, the recommended level was 22, but I had 19, as a result, zombies killed me in two, or even in one hit, with this I passed one mini-boss, but then gave up , since the level did not increase, the zombies killed you once or twice, and you couldn’t leave the level, that is, to pass it you had to suffer through several dozen attempts, and then go and do all sorts of side quests to increase the level. Regarding music and sound, there is almost no music here, I probably played the game a couple of times. That's all for me, I give dead island 2 six out of ten.
