Best of the series. The dark and grim mood makes it much more unique than subsequent games in the series. The UI fits perfectly with the rest of the game with menus designed to look like parchment or books without ever breaking the immersion. The quests seem impressive and well thought out. The balance between dialogue and actual combat is perfect for RPGs. The classes and specializations are distinct and fun to play. Character-based backgrounds add replayability, and companions have interesting stories and interactions. It's an overall great RPG, which makes Dragon Age Inquisition feel even more of a failure. That's not to say that Inquisition is a bad game per se, but the lack of a true dark fantasy feel, compelling quests, and interesting interactions hurts it so much that it feels more like an MMORPG game than Origins. All hope for the next part.
