In general, the game is not bad on the one hand, but on the other hand I expected more from it! Especially the entire set of content does not fit into its price tag. Yes, this is one of the most beautiful games in the Harry Potter universe! Yes, there are excellent graphics with beautiful moments and a detailed location, as well as a colorful combat system. The plot is also quite good!
Therefore, among the advantages of the game it is worth highlighting the following:
- A game based on the popular universe, finalizing some pieces of the canon, even though the events take place a hundred years before those described in books and shown in films. Therefore, this will be very appealing to fans of the universe, but not to players who are not familiar with the universe;
- Very beautiful graphics, although very demanding. There are very unoptimized moments. Personally, I play on a powerful computer and periodically there are not only drawdowns, but soapy textures and long loading times when moving to the next room (loading at the door!);
- Detailed world and locations that allow you to virtually travel throughout Hogwarts and the surrounding area;
- Enjoyable gameplay! It is interesting to work with a combination of spells, and the loot is not very noticeable, its style can always be changed to the one you like and it will also be according to the canon of the game;
- A well-developed and intriguing plot. True, I haven’t completely completed the game yet, but I liked it at the start;
- Folk art in the form of mods is already available!
Among the disadvantages:
- Low entry threshold. The game is often played only by fans of the Harry Potter universe. For the common man, many aspects are incomprehensible. I don’t know if they could at least make the information notes more expansive!
- The game is clearly on extremely powerful hardware, because you can only enjoy the game normally on it. Drawdowns can occur with large crowds of characters. Sometimes textures do not load and there is a long loading time when entering a conditional location.
- Huge world, but not many additional activities! The number of mini-games is very meager; many magic activities could be made into more exciting mini-games than some antediluvian... I don’t even know what to call it! Also potions, which are brewed automatically. Alchemy could be done like in Kingdom Come: Deliverance or, at worst, like in Scarim. In this regard, playing the role of a character is somehow uninteresting...
- Poor character designer! More precisely, it does not exist, but there are only prepared faces, parts of the face and hairstyles. Regarding the male characters, the developers forgot that at the age of 15-16 some guys have facial hair.
- Boring quests, sometimes outright “bring/give/leave and don’t interfere”! There are few really memorable quests. Like the social system, that is, many of the characters in the game are gray dummies. At least someone offered to play bowling! And for some reason the romantic threads weren’t worked out, but we’re playing as a teenager.
- They cut out one of the main games of the universe - Quiditch. Hmmm.
In general, there are many advantages and even more disadvantages. However, for such a well-developed game in the universe, I would like to give it a very high rating. Maybe the game will be improved over time. This is unknown for now.
