The main character is Raziel, a former vampire and fallen angel of death who has rebelled against his creator, the powerful Kain. Traveling through the dark and decaying world of Nosgoth, Raziel seeks answers to the mysteries of his fate and takes revenge on those who condemned him to eternal torment. In the first and second Soul Reaver, players will explore unique locations, transition between the material and spectral worlds, solve puzzles, and fight enemies using combat skills and mystical abilities.
