I didn't play the first part.

I passed it in one breath... The atmosphere is powerful, at the beginning of the game it is clear that something is wrong, but what exactly is not immediately clear). The controls are convenient. The music deserves special attention, it is incomparable. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote it specifically for the game! After playing through the game, I found out that one of the creators of Resident Evil was working on it, everything fell into place.

It was scary in places, giving me goosebumps.

The beginning of the game is not clear to a person who has not played the first part, but over time they learn about the Mayak mental hospital and what happened there. The plot here is drawn out and you hit the wall when the “Chapter 12” sign appears, but I’m not saying that the game is boring, there are many transitions that flow into one whole picture. The controls are a little clumsy (punch and sneak attack on different buttons). By the sounds you can understand where the monster is and that’s it, but the music is so-so, I like it better from Prey. The localization here is excellent and it is in Russian (in the first part it was not there from the beginning). The game has entered my soul and I hope it will too!

Not a bad predecessor to the last part.

To be honest, I really liked the first part and perhaps I expected a lot from the second, but in the end the game disappointed me. Some people praise the semi-open world and additional quests, but it seemed to me that the RPG dialogue inserts were “poor” (let’s put it that way), and the semi-open world killed the atmosphere of the game, I wanted to plunge into horror, and not a sub-horror RPG. In the first part there was a feeling of hopelessness and many bosses, this was not the case here. No, of course there are memorable moments and most of them were shown in the trailers, this is the “Bulgarian aunt” and the photographer.

I expected from the game something like the first part, only with more extensive locations. in the end I got not The Evil Within 2 - a continuation of the first part, but some kind of The Last of Us. The plot is quite banal, but nevertheless interesting. The atmosphere, of course, is not as frightening as in the first part, but it will keep you in suspense (If you played The Last of Us, then here the atmosphere is essentially the same: It’s kind of scary, but it’s not). Bugs do occur, but not often. As a result, the game is good, but you shouldn’t expect that this is a gameplay successor to the first part - no, this is essentially a new game that takes the first part with its DLS as the plot basis, and tries to somehow reveal this plot.

Hmmm. The sequel was bad. The first part had its own charm, its own Japanese horror, and the second became a typical, and not the best Western joke, with a ton of pathos, and some pleasant details and mechanics from the first part. There are figurines left, inside of which the keys to the lockers are hidden, a nurse from the looking glass, the ability to collect jars of green gel, but that atmosphere is gone, that greenish tint in the ancient graphics, that incomprehensible and broken world in someone else’s brain.

All this was replaced by a slightly open world, although Evil Within 1 was an excellent linear project, new, but not atmospheric graphics, poor facial expressions of the characters in dialogue, a pretentious plot, without the mystery of what was happening, as in the first game. E… Read full
